Kwanza Fund Granting Preference:
Successful applicants must demonstrate familiarity with the primary barriers reported by those Americans of African Descent who aren’t in the mainstream of economic & workforce activities, and will propose innovative solutions to help bring these individuals into the world of work; while increasing their use of the Internet to move forward and excel in life.
Preference is given to collaborative, comprehensive and sustainable projects; as well as those that demonstrate knowledge of and ability to work in our city’s most under-served neighborhoods.
Funding preference is also given to nonprofit applicants that have current contracts and/or agreements with public agencies and larger nonprofit organizations to contract for programs, services and training targeting low-income youth, adults, and entrepreneurs.
Grant Restrictions and Requirements:
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) public charities performing work within the City of Topeka & Shawnee County Kansas, and in Good Standing with the Kansas Secretary of State Office.
- Agree to participate in external evaluation to measure impact of the project/program
- Agree to provide quarterly, mid-year and a year-end report (video included)
- Nonprofit agency cannot be established for partisan, fraternal or be religious in nature or formation
